Course Policies and Requirements

Technical Support Policy

  • The Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning provides technical and technological support for instructors and trainees through approved technical support systems

  • Technical support is provided through the Deanship’s email: elearning@iau.edu.sa

  • A description of the issue must be provided, along with an explanatory screenshot whenever possible

  • Technical support is also available via phone: 0133331313

  • Support requests will be responded to within a period not exceeding 48 hours


Inquiry Response Policy

Synchronous Training

If trainees have inquiries during synchronous sessions, a specific time will be allocated during the session to respond to their questions

Asynchronous Online Training

For inquiries related to asynchronously provided learning content, trainees’ questions will be answered according to the communication policies specified in the program


Feedback Policy for All Tasks, Activities, and Quizzes

  • Feedback on all tasks, activities, and quizzes is provided by the professional instructor during synchronous sessions

  • Feedback for quiz questions appears after completing the quiz


Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Guide

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Required for Trainees

  • Understanding computer and internet-related terminology such as browser, software, application, etc., and understanding basic computer components and software

  • Ability to perform basic skills such as file and folder management (Save As, copy, move, rename, delete, and checking properties)

  • Ability to use office applications such as Word and PowerPoint

  • Possessing skills in using office applications, including copy and paste, spell checking, saving files in different formats, sending attachments, opening and downloading files

  • Ability to search the internet and use web browsers

  • Ability to use communication tools such as email (creating, sending, receiving, replying, and uploading/downloading attachments)

  • Ability to use the platform, including browsing program content and text/video files, submitting tasks and quizzes

  • Ability to use virtual classrooms

  • Ability to use the platform, including adding and editing files, creating tasks and quizzes, providing feedback on tasks, reviewing trainees’ grades, and generating reports

  • Ability to use virtual classrooms


Technical Requirements

  • A computer or smartphone connected to the internet

  • A reliable and stable internet connection

  • Use of a web browser is recommended (Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox)

  • Download the Chrome browser by clicking here

  • A PDF reader program must be installed; it can be downloaded by clicking here

  • Use Office applications such as Microsoft Word to complete assignments and tasks

Available Communication Tools

Email, text and audio chat during synchronous training sessions, and discussion forums


Communication Etiquette

First: Email Usage Policy

Before sending any email to the instructor, make sure to clearly identify your issue

The instructor will respond to questions related to

  • Issues related to understanding course content

  • Requests related to reviewing grades

  • Requests related to correcting assignments and quizzes

The instructor will not respond to questions that are

  • Already answered

  • Unclear

  • Inappropriate

  • Unrelated to the course content

  • Related to technical problems or issues with using the course

Email Subject

The email subject must be written clearly and concisely


Second: Online Communication Etiquette

  • Respect colleagues, their information, and the opinions they share

  • Use clear and concise words and sentences

  • Accepting differences in others’ opinions is part of the learning experience

  • The use of sarcasm or humor is not allowed in emails or discussion boards

  • Limited use of emojis is preferred


Third: Security Policy

  • Do not share your password with anyone

  • Always log out after finishing your use of the system

  • Change your password if you suspect that someone else knows it


Fourth: Intellectual and Academic Integrity

  • Students’ submissions must be original, with proper citation of sources when quoting

  • Respect intellectual property rights when participating in the course

  • Use the citation feature when commenting on another person’s contribution

  • In cases of violating academic integrity or confirmed cheating, the matter will be handled according to the regulations and policies of Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University

Action Taken in Case of Violating Communication Etiquette

The violation will be referred to the relevant departments at the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning to take the necessary action based on the nature of the violation
